Job description
We are seeking passionate and talented students who are eager to shape next-generation products at ZEISS. Integrated within a team of scientists and engineers, you will work on tactile sensing and perception for robotic manipulation. The project is focused on benchmarking state-of-the-art tactile sensors and demonstrating the role of tactile feedback for fine robotic manipulation.

Familiarize yourself with the state-of-the-art in tactile sensing, robotics and vision-language-action foundation models
Implement prototype solutions using state-of-the-art techniques
Validate your results through measurements conducted in a laboratory setup
Assess the technical feasibility of your solutions
Thoroughly document experimental outcomes and test results for future reference and analysis
Your Profile
Currently enrolled in a master’s degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering)
Proficiency in Python is mandatory, experience with ROS2 is a plus
Strong foundation in linear algebra, optimization, and methodologies in computer vision
Demonstrable experience in hardware prototyping and sensor integration is a plus
Prior experience working with real robotic platforms is required
A self-motivated and independent working style, coupled with a strong curiosity for tackling challenging topics that advance the state-of-the-art
