Site Reliability Engineer 1 - Data

Position Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and high-potential entry-level Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our team and help drive meaningful business impact while launching your career in reliability engineering.

This is a really exciting time to be part of the SRE transformation at WEX. Our sophisticated products power a diverse range of customer businesses, and the underlying infrastructure and platforms generate rich, complex telemetry data. As we scale and modernize, ensuring reliability, performance, and efficiency across our systems is more critical than ever.

As an SRE, you’ll contribute to building and supporting the foundational reliability engineering practices that help WEX deliver seamless, highly available, and performant services. You’ll work on developing tools, automation, and monitoring solutions to reduce operational toil, improve observability, and accelerate root cause analysis and recovery. You’ll also help us advance our incident and problem management practices and contribute to making our systems more resilient and scalable.

We operate with an agile mindset, blending engineering and operations in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You'll be surrounded by experienced engineers and leaders who will support, mentor, and challenge you to grow.

If you aspire to be a strong engineer who can solve tough problems, drive real impact, and grow quickly in the field of reliability engineering, this is a fantastic opportunity for you!

Responsibilities:

Assist in monitoring and maintaining system reliability and performance. Participate in incident management, triage, and root cause analysis. Develop basic automation scripts to reduce manual operational tasks. Collaborate with senior engineers to learn best practices in system design and maintenance. Follow established processes for service deployment and change management. Engage in knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance team learning.

Required Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience). Basic understanding of Linux/Unix administration, networking, and system troubleshooting. Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

Basic understanding of data concepts such as tables, schemas, ETL, and data freshness.

Preferred Qualification

Basic experience in CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI). Awareness of cloud computing concepts (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Good understanding of version control systems (Git). Familiarity with developing AI based solutions. Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Exposure to data engineering or analytics workflows and platforms such as working with SQL, data pipelines, or BI tools. Interest in reliability concepts applied to data systems, such as pipeline retry, checkpointing, or schema evolution.
