ACCIONA Energía is seeking a Quality Manager to join our Quality, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability team in Chicago. Our Quality Manager will lead the execution of the Quality Management System (QMS) across a portfolio of wind, solar, and battery storage assets, ensuring operational excellence throughout the asset lifecycle. This role will drive improvements in asset reliability, supplier performance, and Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) while supporting a data-driven culture of continuous improvement across the U.S. and Canada.

Job Description

  • Quality Governance: Establish and lead the Quality Management System (QMS), integrating ISO standards into daily operations across the renewable energy fleet.
  • Supplier & Component Quality: Oversee vendor quality performance, including Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT), to ensure high-quality, defect-free delivery.
  • Reliability & Performance: Partner with Engineering, Construction, and Operations teams to improve asset reliability, reduce downtime, and enhance performance metrics.
  • Corrective Actions: Lead root cause analyses (RCA) on systemic quality issues and ensure effective, long-term resolution across the fleet.
  • Cost & Supplier Performance: Track and report Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) and supplier performance metrics to drive continuous improvement and ROI-focused decisions.
  • Process Optimization: Develop and implement standardized procedures and tools to streamline and strengthen quality processes across sites.
  • Compliance Auditing: Conduct risk-based audits to ensure adherence to regulatory, safety, and technical standards.
  • Reporting & Leadership: Deliver executive-level reporting on quality performance and provide training to promote a culture of continuous improvement and risk-based thinking.

Required Skills and Competencies

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 8–10 years of progressive experience in quality management within the energy or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing Quality Management Systems (QMS), including audit management and corrective action closure.
  • Strong familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certification frameworks and processes.
  • Ability to interpret renewable energy technical documentation (e.g., wind turbine torque specifications, solar inverter fault codes).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and mobile platforms.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to investigate anomalies and identify root causes.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including business writing.
  • Willingness to travel 25–40% to remote project sites.
  • Must be able to pass wind turbine climb and rescue training; must be able to safely wear standard fall-protection harness (maximum weight: 265lbs).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license; must hold or be eligible to hold a U.S. Passport.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supply Chain Expertise: Experience with APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) or PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) within the energy or automotive sectors.
  • Certification: Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) / Auditor (CQA); Global Wind Organization (GWO) Basic Safety Training (BST)
  • Industry Specifics: Prior experience specifically managing quality for Wind, Solar, or Battery Storage assets.
  • Data Analytics: 3+ years of experience building and deploying business-level dashboards (e.g., PowerBI or Tableau) to track utility-scale performance and quality trends.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Pay & Benefits:

  • Base Pay: $95,000 to $120,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications).
  • 10% Annual Performance Bonus (based on individual and company performance).
