Position Summary:
Equine Podiatry provides primary and emergency medical podiatry care to clients of the Rocky Mountain region. This position will service existing clients and develop new clientele in the region. In addition to offering a clinical service, the position will provide a hands-on learning experience for veterinary students/house officers and will help the Podiatrist manage the business of the equine podiatry service. The position relies on a teamwork-focused structure, while providing excellent equine care and demonstration of strong communication with clients.
Primary responsibilities:
Assist the equine podiatry team with appointments at Johnson Family Equine Hospital when they are scheduled within the service.
Assist the podiatry team with the organization and cleaning of the shop area, including specialized shoeing fabrication, restocking of supplies, inventory, maintenance of tools and machines.
Traveling to local supply stores to acquire supplies and equipment.
Instruct and teach veterinary students (years 1-4) and house officers during educational sessions within Equine Podiatry Academy.
Participate in continuing education for farriers, clients, and referring veterinarians with the goal of building caseload for equine podiatry service.

At the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) we exist to educate the next generation of veterinarians by providing exceptional veterinary care and service to the community every day. This work unit exists to provide administration and direction of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and provide a support facility for service to the general public and referring veterinarians.
Essential Job Duties:
Deliver the full spectrum of clinical podiatry services within the Johnson Family Equine Hospital, ensuring high‑quality care and positive client interactions.
Collaborate directly with clients, referring veterinarians (rDVMs), and farriers to coordinate care plans and maintain effective, professional communication.
Provide the majority of instructional sessions for veterinary students across all four years and for house officers, ensuring consistent and comprehensive educational experiences.
Develop and deliver continuing education (CE) programming for veterinarians, clients, and farriers to support ongoing professional development in equine podiatry.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma
Graduated for horseshoeing school with 1 year of experience.
