DESCRIPTION: 

The Temporary Resource Teacher of the BSAP Community-Based Learning Center (CBLC) After School Enrichment Program is employed through the Howard County Public Schools. Under the guidance and leadership of BSAP Supervisors, the person in this temporary position collaborates with Central Office staff, BSAP CBLC staff, students, feeder school staff, families, and community members to provide staff and students with professional learning, mentoring, academic support and enrichment, and social emotional learning opportunities. The temporary resource teacher works to foster parent and community engagement in student learning and achievement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Applicants must meet all of the following qualifications listed below to be considered for the vacancy. Use the application, cover letter, and resume to specifically address each qualification.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, a social science, or a related field.

Certification:

Priority will be given to applicable applicants who:

  • Hold a current Professional Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) certificate/license with an Elementary 1-6 endorsement.

Applicants may be considered who:

  • Hold a current Professional MSDE certificate/license and have completed all MSDE requirements in any licensure area.

Experience:

  • Three years of successful teaching experience. 

  • Experience in the design, delivery, and assessment of professional learning opportunities.
     

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Participation and facilitation of leadership development and professional learning opportunities.

  • Experience working with students and families from diverse backgrounds.

  • Basic computer literacy.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with Central Office staff, administrators, colleagues, school-based staff, students, parents, and community members. 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to properly maintain confidential information.

  • Academic skills necessary to provide effective support to K-5 students.

  • Ability to connect with adult and student learners.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide instructional coaching and support to Site Coordinators and Assistant Site Coordinators across all CBLC sites after school.

  • Plan and implement programs aligned with systemwide goals to meet diverse student needs.

  • Facilitate professional learning and support staff in creating equitable, inclusive learning environments.

  • Promote best practices in family engagement and strengthen partnerships with families.

  • Support the development of collaborative relationships with feeder schools to align academic and social-emotional supports.

  • Ensure program continuity by arranging site coverage as needed.

  • Integrate technology effectively across program sites.

  • Participate in site planning and initiatives to improve student achievement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to advance program goals.

EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION  

Compensation 

This is a temporary position. The BSAP Community-Based Learning Center Temporary Resource Teacher is hired on a yearly basis under the Temporary Services. The term of service coincides with the academic school year. The hourly rate is determined by current budget allocations for temporary positions in the Beyond School Hour Programs.
