Carbon
Senior/Staff Technical Program Manager, Hardware
Salary
Job description
You will co-lead our most ambitious, high-stakes initiatives, navigating extreme ambiguity to deliver scalable solutions. You are a strategic partner to engineering leadership, capable of deep-diving into technical trade-offs with architects while simultaneously aligning multi-year roadmaps with executive stakeholders.
You will…
- Strategic Execution: Drive the end-to-end delivery of Carbon’s most complex programs, ensuring tight integration between hardware engineering, software engineering, operations and product.
- Systemic Problem Solving: Coordinate cross-functional alignment to identify and resolve structural bottlenecks in the development process. You don't just fix the project; you fix the system that slowed the project down.
- Risk & Dependency Management: Proactively identify high-order risks across the development project. Map and manage complex dependencies between hardware lead times and software sprint cycles.
- Stakeholder Leadership: Serve as the primary point of contact for executive leadership regarding program health. Translate deep technical complexities into clear, strategic, and actionable business insights.
- Organizational Multiplier: Scale Carbon’s "Ways of Working" by implementing lean, high-impact frameworks and mentoring TPMs and engineers to improve overall execution velocity.
You have…
- 10+ years of experience in technical program management, with a proven track record of delivering complex, large-scale products.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams across hardware and software environments.
- Significant experience implementing best-in-class methodologies to accelerate technical development and delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Bonus Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in a Senior or Staff-level TPM role within a high-growth tech or advanced manufacturing environment.
- Deep expertise in the full product development life cycle for integrated hardware/software systems.
- Demonstrated ability to influence organizational culture, engineering processes, and strategic decision-making without formal authority.
- While not required, prior experience in additive manufacturing, robotics, or complex hardware/software integration is a significant plus. We value candidates who can hit the ground running with an understanding of our unique technical constraints.
