We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team and take ownership of key accounting functions. This role is ideal for someone with a strong accounting background who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to a growing organization.

You Will:

Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal policies, and established internal controls.
Apply ASC 606 revenue recognition principles, including reviewing customer contracts, identifying performance obligations, supporting revenue schedules, and ensuring accurate and timely revenue reporting.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheets, and profit and loss reports to support management decision-making and financial transparency.
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Maintain general ledger accounts and supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy and audit readiness while supporting external audit and tax preparation processes.
Partner cross-functionally with Program Management, Sales, Legal, and Finance teams to ensure accurate contract interpretation, billing alignment, and consistent application of revenue recognition policies.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, enhance documentation, and strengthen internal controls to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

You’ll Have:

7-10+ years of accounting experience, including experience applying ASC 606 revenue recognition principles.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting concepts.
Experience working with general ledger systems and financial reporting tools.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical capabilities.
Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
CPA or equivalent certification preferred
Experience with Sage Intacct, Concur, and Tipalti preferred

This role is not remote and requires employees to work onsite in the office five days a week to Avathon's Austin or Pleasanton office locations.
