Job description
At Alcon, we are driven by the meaningful work we do to help people see brilliantly. We innovate boldly, champion progress, and act with speed as the global leader in eye care. Here, you’ll be recognized for your commitment and contributions and see your career like never before. Together, we go above and beyond to make an impact in the lives of our patients and customers. We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon.
As a Regional Sales & Product Training Manager supporting Vision Care commercial teams and healthcare professionals, you will be trusted to work on sales excellence and science‑based training initiatives based in Budapest.
In this role, a typical day will include:
- Drive the clinical and commercial performance of the Vision Care portfolio across Hungary and Romania, with extended support to selected Central and South‑Eastern Europe and Eastern Europe markets, ensuring full alignment with international Learning and Development and Professional Education strategies.
- Design, adapt and deliver science‑based training programmes for internal teams, partner commercial teams and healthcare and eye care professionals, strengthening product knowledge, clinical expertise, sales effectiveness and soft skills development.
- Provide hands‑on in‑market support and field coaching, spending the majority of time in the field through joint visits with business development and field line managers, effectively addressing clinical product barriers and driving customer engagement and commitment.
- Build, develop and activate strong networks of healthcare and eye care professional advocates and key influencers, enabling evidence‑based education, peer‑to‑peer learning and increased adoption of the Vision Care portfolio.
- Lead education strategy and execution for new product launches, including pre‑launch preparation, professional education, clinical communication, advocate engagement and post‑launch performance support.
- Identify training needs and continuously improve capability development, by analysing skill gaps, evaluating learning effectiveness, utilising approved learning platforms, and optimising content and delivery methods to maximise impact.
- Ensure operational excellence, governance and compliance, including training budget management, accurate execution of educational activities, cross‑functional collaboration with sales, marketing, regulatory and legal teams, and strict adherence to corporate, ethical and regulatory standards.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
- Proven experience in Vision Care or ophthalmology, with a strong preference for optometry or pharmaceutical background, and solid understanding of clinical products, anatomy of the eye and disease states.
- Minimum five years of experience in a regional or managerial role within sales, marketing, professional education or professional affairs, ideally combining commercial and training responsibilities.
- Excellent training, coaching and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific and clinical concepts into clear value messages for sales teams and healthcare professionals.
- Fluent English and native‑level Hungarian language skills are mandatory, knowledge of the Romanian language is considered a strong advantage.
- Strong personality and soft skills, including empathy, adaptability, creativity, customer focus, integrity, and the ability to motivate and influence diverse stakeholders across cultures.
- High field orientation and mobility, with willingness to spend the majority (70 %) of working time in the field across Hungary, Romania and selected neighbouring countries, while being based in Budapest.
HOW YOU CAN THRIVE AT ALCON:
- Own and shape regional training and education strategies, working end‑to‑end from concept to execution while directly influencing commercial and clinical performance across multiple markets.
- Engage in a highly visible position that combines field leadership, clinical expertise and strategic thinking, supported by experienced international and local teams.
- Competitive compensation package with full local employment benefits, including a company car.
