Job description
The Lifting Supervisor is responsible for the planning, coordination, and safe execution of all lifting operations on site. The role ensures compliance with safety regulations, approved lifting procedures, and project requirements while minimizing risks associated with lifting activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the planning, supervision, and safe execution of lifting operations on site
- Prepare and review lifting plans, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS) for all lifting activities
- Ensure all lifting operations are carried out in accordance with approved procedures, safety standards, and legal requirements
- Interpret crane load charts and perform accurate load calculations to determine safe lifting capacities
- Coordinate with crane operators, riggers, and site teams to ensure effective communication and safe work practices
- Conduct pre-lift briefings (toolbox talks) to ensure all personnel understand the lifting plan and associated risks
- Monitor lifting operations to ensure compliance with approved lifting plans and intervene when unsafe practices are observed
- Verify that all lifting equipment and accessories are certified, inspected, and fit for use
- Ensure proper selection and use of lifting gear in accordance with load requirements
- Maintain records of lifting activities, inspections, and safety documentation
- Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and implement corrective actions
- Liaise with client representatives and internal stakeholders regarding lifting activities when required
- Must hold a valid LEEA Appointed Person certification
- Minimum 4–5 years of proven experience in lifting operations within construction or infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of lifting operations, rigging practices, and crane operations
- Demonstrated ability to prepare lifting plans, risk assessments, and method statements
- In-depth understanding of crane load charts, load calculations, and safe lifting techniques
- Familiar with UAE safety regulations and international lifting standards
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple lifting activities simultaneously
- Strong safety awareness and risk management skills
