Job description

The LUH-72 Aircraft Mechanic AM-2 (FAA A&P) performs maintenance and inspects on LUH-72 systems maintaining to FAA standards.

  • A valid (FAA) A&P certificate is Required.

  • Airbus Lakota LUH-72/EC-145 School Training certification is preferred.

  • Must have Two (2) years aviation maintenance experience, Three (3) years rotary wing aircraft mechanic hands-on experience, and Two (2) years of FAA A&P mechanic experience on the Lakota LUH-72/EC-145 is Required. 

  • US Citizenship is Required to obtain the Security Clearance and for facility access to this work location.

  • Perform the full range of military tactical aircraft maintenance with a primary expertise as a LUH-72 mechanic, repair functions including assembly and modification on a variety of Army and other DoD cross-service aircraft, their major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and related systems.

  • Install, connect, and adjust complete systems such as fuel, heat, lubrication, hydraulic, engine, and transmission: install and align fuselage parts; balance, align, and install tail rotor assemblies; rig complete flight control systems.

  • Incorporate authorized modifications and changes.

  • Make operational checks of hydraulic and fuel systems using external power sources and powered ground equipment.

  • Inspect and troubleshoot to determine cause of malfunctions; disassemble to point of trouble; adjust, repair, realign or replace defective component or assembly.

  • Must be able to properly use a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices such as gauges torque wrenches and scales and test, measurement and diagnostic equipment related to specific aircraft models.

  • Must be able to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair of replacement of new parts and the nature and extent of repair required.

  • Must have skill in reading, applying and interpreting technical data.

  • Direct the work of lower-graded mechanics for complete assembly, modification and checkout of the entire aircraft and coordinate with related trades such as general mechanics and sheet metal to assure proper sequence of the complete aircraft assembly process.

  • Prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.

  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. 

  • A valid (FAA) A&P certificate is Required.

  • Airbus Lakota LUH-72 / EC-145 School Training certification is preferred.

  • Two (2) years aviation maintenance experience, Three (3) years rotary wing aircraft mechanic experience, and Two (2) years of FAA A&P hands-on mechanic experience on the Lakota LUH-72/EC-145 (MDS) Mission Design Series aircraft assigned is Required. 

  • All experience must be within the Five (5) most recent years.

  • Mechanic Tools/Toolbox: Candidate must provide their own tools and toolbox. (Recruiter will provide tool list and toolbox requirements).

  • Interim (NAC-I T1) Public Trust approval required for deployment.

  • Valid US Passport is Required for deployment to Germany.

  • Additional OCONUS Travel to austere environments may be required (TDY) in support of the mission task order.

Germany Specific Requirements:

  • TESA Approval: (German Govt) Must be able to qualify for the German TESA approval; with 5 years career total Aviation maintenance experience.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Govt Security Clearance NAC-I (T1) Public Trust. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is Required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.

Physical and Additional Qualifications:

  • Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

  • Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.

  • Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.

  • Should have experience with civil or commercial aviation forms, records, tech manuals, and a strong working knowledge of FAR’s 43 and 91.

  • Possess good communication skills; be adaptable, diversified and capable of troubleshooting entire aircraft system.

  • Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical and associated systems principles to complete properly all probable work tasks.

  • Knowledge of Quality Control, Production and Supply procedures required to perform job assignment.

  • Able to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair of replacement of new parts and the nature and extent of repair required.

  • Must have skill in reading, applying and interpreting technical data.
