Job Description:
Based on experience, the successful candidate will be hired into one of two levels of professional opportunity: Assistant Athletic Trainer or Associate Athletic Trainer. Duties and qualifications listed are for the Assistant Athletic Trainer position. Additional duties and qualifications required for Associate Athletic Trainer position and will be shared at the interview stage.
Primary Function: Assists with the supervision and coordination of the University’s overall sports medicine and athletic training services in consultation with and under the supervision of the Director of Athletic Training and Sport Medicine/Senior Associate Athletic Trainer, team physician(s) and other qualified medical personnel; serves as an athletic trainer for assigned sport(s) by the Director of Athletic Training and Sport Medicine in conjunction with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics; assists with the development and implementation of student-athlete welfare and educational programs including but not limited to NCAA drug testing, substance abuse programming, and nutritional guidance; and provides clinical preceptorship and supervision of athletic training students for the University’s Athletic Training Master’s Program under the supervision of Graduate Coordinator for the program.
Qualifications: Master’s degree; certification by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC); Athletic Training Licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in the State of Iowa; strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment required. NCAA Division I experience; and experience with manual therapy rehabilitation techniques preferred.
