About the role 

As a Cook, this is your opportunity to design and deliver the menu for the International Student Lounge while preparing quality food in line with council standards, and with cultural sensitivity. It’s also your chance to support and collaborate with staff and volunteers, embodying the welcoming values of the Salvation Army.

Reporting to the Corps Officer, and liaising with the program support worker, this is a permanent, part-time role, offering 8 hours per week, located in Geelong, Victoria.

How you will make an impact 

  • Plan nutritious, culturally inclusive menus and prepare required shopping lists.
  • Cook and serve meals with volunteers, ensuring quality and minimal wastage.
  • Order and source supplies within budget and policy guidelines.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety.
  • Support service improvement, consumer satisfaction, and compliance with OH&S requirements.
  • Model Salvation Army values and support a welcoming, collaborative environment.

What you will bring 

  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience in food preparation and cooking in a commercial environment.
  • Understanding of the use of relevant chemicals.
  • Minimum two years previous food service experience.
  • WHS – knowledge of work health safety obligations and to practice these in the workplace in line with TSA policy & procedures and legislation. Professional development required to maintain skills for the role.
  • Driver’s licence preferred.
