If this sounds like you, we should talk.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an Electrical Technician to support spacecraft assembly, integration, and test activities across electrical systems and avionics hardware for Momentus satellite platforms and in-space transportation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Assembly, Integration & Build

  • Assemble spacecraft avionics hardware, including PCBA, wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and electromechanical subassemblies from engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Fabricate flight and test (EGSE) harnesses including crimping, stripping, soldering, shielding (foil/braid), and connectorization
  • Integrate avionics systems into spacecraft buses and support installation at subsystem and system level

PCB Assembly & Rework

  • Perform surface-mount (SMT), fine-pitch, and through-hole soldering and rework to IPC standards
  • Execute PCB modifications (component replacement, cut-and-jump, trace repair, conformal coating touch-up)
  • Inspect PCBAs using microscopes and verify workmanship against applicable standards

Test & Troubleshooting

  • Perform electrical testing including continuity, resistance, voltage/current measurements, and signal verification
  • Operate lab/test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and data acquisition systems
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues at board, harness, and system level; support root cause and corrective actions

Inspection & Quality

  • Inspect incoming and in-process hardware (PCBs, harnesses, connectors) for compliance with drawings and standards
  • Verify connector pinouts, cable continuity, and system functionality
  • Support non-conformance resolution and collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams

Test Operations & Environmental Support

  • Support spacecraft test campaigns including functional test, thermal vacuum (TVAC), vibration, and system validation
  • Assist with setup and operation of test configurations, instrumentation, and test fixtures
  • Monitor and document test results and anomalies

Documentation & Process Improvement

  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and work instructions
  • Record build, test, and rework activities in MES/ERP systems
  • Contribute to development and improvement of manufacturing processes, work instructions, and tooling

Lab & Production Support

  • Maintain ESD-safe workspaces and follow contamination/FOD control procedures
  • Support calibration and upkeep of lab equipment
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Electrical, Systems, Test, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineering teams

Required Skills and Experience

  • 2–5+ years of hands-on experience as an electrical/electronics technician in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing
  • Proficiency in:
  • Wire harness fabrication (crimping, soldering, shielding, connector assembly)
  • PCB assembly and rework (SMT and through-hole)
  • Reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings
  • Experience using standard electrical test equipment:
  • Multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, continuity testers
  • Strong troubleshooting skills at component, board, and system level
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620)
  • High attention to detail with commitment to quality and workmanship standards
  • Ability to work in fast-paced development and production environments

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with spacecraft, satellite avionics, or aerospace hardware
  • Current IPC certifications (J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620)
  • Experience with:
  • RF coax, high-speed data cables, and specialized connectors
  • Environmental testing (TVAC, vibration, thermal cycling)
  • Cleanroom operations (ISO 7 / ISO 8) and contamination control
  • Familiarity with:
  • Altium Designer or ECAD tools
  • MES/ERP systems and digital work instructions
  • Linux-based test environments or automated test systems
  • Ability to support prototype through production builds and process scaling
  • Experience contributing to process development, tooling, or work instruction improvements

Education & Work Experience:

  • High School Diploma, Associate degree, or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field preferred
  • Typical experience level:
  • Entry-Level: 2+ years relevant hands-on technician experience
  • Mid-Level: 4–6+ years with strong autonomy in build, test, and troubleshooting
  • Equivalent combination of education, military training, or trade school experience will be considered
