Our vision is to collectively create what’s next through sport, community and the power of our differences.

The 2028 Olympics and Paralympics will represent LA and leverage the strength of our community’s creativity as we collectively work to design a Games that we all want to be a part of. We do this by focusing on people and by inviting everyone into the story of the LA28 Games.

The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

  • Co-Creation – We are authors of a shared story. Everyone contributes their unique voice to our shared mission; we share pride in our accomplishments and ownership of our shortcomings
  • Boldness – We embrace creativity, courage and outside-the-box thinking; we are unafraid to take risks, explore unconventional solutions, and learn from the process; we are innovators, disruptors, and challengers of the status quo

Associate Project Manager, Brand Guidelines & Governance

LA28’s Brand, Identity and Look of the Games team is setting the creative bar for all future Olympic and Paralympic organizing committees with a groundbreaking approach to branding that embraces motion, endlessly adaptable creative elements, and a variable emblem that showcases LA’s diversity.

Reporting to the Director, Brand Design Operations & Planning, the Associate Project Manager, Guidelines & Governance will serve as a critical team member responsible for overseeing the development, organization, and distribution of brand governance materials. This position will be instrumental in building project timelines, supporting publication workflows, and coordinating across internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.

Their primary responsibilities will include driving workflows, building schedules, facilitating collaboration, consolidating feedback, and managing quality control. They will lead cross-functional meetings, intake meetings, and workshops where they will manage agendas, guide conversations, and establish next steps, action items, and timelines to be shared in meeting recap emails and project trackers.

This role requires the ability to balance multiple projects in varying stages of development simultaneously, ensuring dependencies and milestones are met across all deliverables.

Given the complexity of the brand, quality control is central to this position. This individual will support Quality Control (QC) efforts, tracking feedback carefully through each round of revisions to ensure all stakeholder requirements and notes have been addressed, using project management and proofing tools to do so.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage publication calendar, workback schedules, project phases, and milestones delivery dates
  • Balance management of multiple sets of guidelines simultaneously
  • Oversee intake sessions, check-ins, and feedback cycles; distribute notes, next steps, and action items to ensure alignment across project teams
  • Utilize project management systems to track statuses, document progress, and flag blockers and risks
  • QC files for accuracy prior to routing for reviews and approval
  • Drive review cycles by routing guideline documents and drafts to internal stakeholders and IOC partners, ensuring review timelines are honored, interpreting and consolidating notes, and facilitating in-person feedback sessions when further discussion is needed
  • Coordinate updates and addendums to guidelines as new assets become available for publication
  • Own file management ensuring outdated versions are properly archived

Background & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in creative project or traffic management, either within an in-house creative team or agency setting; brand governance focus is a plus
  • Knowledgeable in developing brand governance frameworks, guidelines, and style guides
  • Familiar with project management methodologies and tools such as Smartsheet or similar platforms
  • Skilled in stakeholder management across cross-functional and external partners — setting timelines, identifying dependencies, and driving work forward to meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to organize and manage multiple multi-phase projects simultaneously, balancing varying levels of complexity and priority
  • Experience in or passion for branding in global sporting events is highly desirable

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to work on-site in an open office environment, based in Los Angeles, CA
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment
  • Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods

Position Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

Expectations:

  • Ability to foster trusting relationships with teammates, cross-functional partners, and external stakeholders
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting priorities as project needs evolve
  • Self-directed and proactive in surfacing blockers, communicating progress, and keeping stakeholders aligned
  • Excellent verbal and written communication across all levels of organizational leadership and external audiences
  • Naturally organized with a systematic approach to structuring workflows and managing project documentation
  • Strong design literacy, able to understand and interpret brand guidelines when performing QC and governance reviews
  • Keen attention to detail, capable of reviewing and proofreading design files for accuracy and consistency and flagging necessary revisions
  • Passion for design, culture and the power of storytelling at a global scale
  • This isn’t just another gig – it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shape the look, feel, and experience of LA28. If you’re ready to deliver projects that will live on in Olympic and Paralympic history for generations to come, let’s build together
