Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised **Assistant Restaurant Manager** to join our dynamic team in Mount Barker, Australia. In this pivotal role, you will support the daily management of our restaurant, leading our team through busy service periods whilst maintaining our commitment to exceptional guest experiences. You will work collaboratively with the management team to drive operational excellence, develop our staff, and contribute to the financial success of the establishment.

  • Lead and motivate the team during service periods, ensuring smooth operations and maintaining high standards of customer service
  • Support the Restaurant Manager in staff recruitment, induction, training and development programmes
  • Oversee inventory management, stock rotation and ordering procedures to maintain optimal stock levels
  • Assist with financial management, including till reconciliation, cash handling and basic profit analysis
  • Create and manage staff rosters and schedules, ensuring adequate coverage during all service periods
  • Proactively identify and implement improvements to enhance the guest experience and operational efficiency
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene and health and safety regulations
  • Handle customer queries and complaints with empathy and professionalism, resolving issues promptly
  • Monitor and analyse key performance indicators to support business objectives
  • Collaborate with the management team to achieve sales targets and operational goals
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive and supportive working environment for all team members

**Required:**

  • Proven experience leading a team within a busy, high-volume hospitality environment
  • Demonstrated experience delivering exceptional customer service
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and time-keeping abilities
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems and restaurant management software
  • Proficiency in inventory management and stock control
  • Basic financial acumen and experience with till reconciliation
  • Flexibility to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities
  • Passion for inspiring, leading and developing team members

**Desirable:**

  • Experience in a similar Assistant Manager or supervisory role
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial forecasting
  • Experience with staff appraisal and performance management
  • Familiarity with restaurant industry best practices and trends
  • First Aid or Food Safety certification
  • Experience in a fast-casual or quick-service restaurant environment
