Sustainability Solutions Lead

Work set up: Hybrid (3 days in Sheffield office)

Our client in the Information Technology and Services industry is looking for a Sustainability Solutions Lead to act as a technical authority in embedding sustainability into technology platforms and infrastructure. This role sits within the Chief Technology Office, working across infrastructure, data, platforms, and engineering to drive sustainability by design across current and future initiatives. Acting as an internal consultant, this position translates strategic sustainability goals into actionable technical solutions, business cases, and multi-year roadmaps that support the organisation’s ambition to achieve net zero operations and optimise technology through sustainability-led innovation.

What you will do:

• Act as a technical lead to embed sustainability considerations into platforms, infrastructure, and technology domains.
• Translate customer and platform needs into infrastructure and platform requirements aligned with sustainability objectives.
• Bridge customer requirements and provider capabilities to identify opportunities for sustainable technology integration.
• Turn strategic sustainability initiatives into viable business cases and actionable solutions.
• Define and support a multi-year sustainability roadmap, including frameworks, artefacts, and governance models.
• Provide thought leadership on sustainability across architecture and infrastructure activities.
• Outline platform requirements incorporating sustainability and cost optimisation considerations.
• Support strategic decision-making by evaluating options and recommending appropriate technology changes.
• Participate in stakeholder discussions, offering technical insights and recommendations in real time.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams within CTO to deliver sustainable and scalable technology solutions.

• Proven experience in solution architecture, technology consulting, or engineering roles.
• Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, platforms, and architecture principles.
• Experience with cloud technologies, containerisation, and virtualisation.
• Ability to translate strategic objectives into technical solutions and business cases.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience in cost modelling and evaluating business case viability.
• Understanding of sustainability concepts within a technology context.
• Awareness of industry technology trends and external market developments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across all organisational levels.
• Ability to apply structured approaches to documentation and solution design.
