Get to Know Your Team: Bailey Medical Center offers a full range of medical services, including general surgery, maternity, gynecology, bariatrics, orthopedics and emergency care. The 73-bed hospital is one of the most technologically advanced hospitals in the region. The Surgical First Assistant contributes to expected patient outcomes in accordance with policies, procedures, established standards, and administrative policies. Assist the surgeon by providing visualization or the surgical site through retraction of tissue and sponging, assisting with achieving homeostasis and suturing of body planes. Prepare the operating room with appropriate instruments, supplies and equipment and assemble sterile tables as needed for the procedure. Communicates sterility status and concerns to the procedural team. Assist the surgical team with safe patient positioning and transferring. Job Requirements : Graduate of an accredited Certified Surgical First Assistant program Certified Surgical First Assistant at time of hire BLS certification is required within 14 days of hire or transfer and prior to providing direct patient care. Preferred Job Requirements: At least 1 year of experience as a Surgical First Assistant The Surgical First Assistant contributes to expected patient outcomes in accordance with policies, procedures, established standards, and administrative policies.
