What We Offer The Director of Anatomic Pathology provides leadership across all markets and is responsible for all operations; planning, direction and management of the business and multidisciplinary activities for pathology laboratory services and any other services as assigned. The role works in tandem with Pathologists, Directors and Managers to ensure there is consistency across the regions that allow for system alignment and connectedness. The Director is accountable for guiding all operational initiatives at the respective flagship tertiary level facilities while overseeing the leadership at the community hospitals. What You'll Do Provide leadership in achieving ongoing corporate objectives including quality, financial vitality, employee, and customer satisfaction. Serve as key member on NHLS AP Advisory and patient care committees for laboratory services and throughout Novant Health. Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, recommend an appropriate organizational structure and personnel plan for the laboratory, assist with the development of an equipment plan for the pathology laboratory and oversee execution of the plan, ensure that service level standards of the pathology laboratory are met and assist with the preparation of and oversee department budgets. Be responsible for the management of programs and operations in Anatomic Pathology (Autopsy, Cytology, Surgical Pathology, and Molecular). Engage in strategic planning to ensure state of the art technology; develop standards and testing procedures that meet the needs of patients and physicians; oversee quality services including quality assurance and performance improvement in all areas of responsibility; and evaluate and implement processes to maximize utilization of resources with attention to controlling costs and maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies. What We're Looking For Education: 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Cytology, Histology, Molecular Biology, chemical, physical, biological science, or equivalent; required. Graduate degree / Master’s degree in Business Administration/Healthcare Administration or related field; required. Graduate degree / Doctorate in Molecular Pathology or other related Biomedical Sciences, preferred. Licensure/Certification: Technologist/Scientist/Specialist Certification from ASCP, required. Experience: Eight or more years of experience in relevant laboratory technology and/or leadership experience, required. Additional Skills/Requirements (required): All individuals who are newly certified ASCP beginning January 1, 2004, must participate and maintain ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) through the Certification Maintenance Program (CMP). All individuals who are newly certified AMT beginning January 1, 2006, must participate and maintain AMT Certification Continuation Program (CCP). Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tasks. Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation. Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results. Skill in performing a full range of laboratory tests. Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital staff and the public. Ability to read and understand information about instrumentation in laboratory field. Ability to follow written protocols. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate clearly. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Adobe. Possesses knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
