This role requires a leader who is equally comfortable in the boardroom presenting to steering committees as they are on the shop floor conducting bottleneck analysis.
Core Responsibilities
IE Leadership: Lead and manage a team in conducting time and motion studies; develop standardized work and balance operator workloads to align with takt time using Pre-determined Time Standards (MTM, MOST, or MODAPTS).
Stakeholder Management: Present station readiness plans to the Steering Committee and customers; present line balancing data to the core launch team (Product, Engineering, and Operations).
Throughput Optimization: Lead throughput and bottleneck analysis to identify improvement opportunities and eliminate process constraints.
Cross-Functional Direction: Provide direct guidance to Station Design, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality teams to implement design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and process improvements.
Ergonomics & Simulation: Ensure data for ergonomic evaluations using digital tools (e.g., Process Simulate Human or ErgoMan) is provided to responsible teams to ensure operator safety and efficiency.
Validation & Launch: Validate PFMEA and process documentation for compliance; support pilot builds, tool tryouts, and process validation during pre-production phases.
Continuous Improvement: Lead Kaizen workshops and Lean Manufacturing initiatives to drive first-time quality and minimize downtime.
Data-Driven Reporting: Track and report critical launch metrics including cycle time adherence, FTQ (First-Time Quality), and throughput performance.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (Master’s preferred).
Experience: 10+ years in manufacturing engineering with a focus on high-volume automotive launches.
Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in MTM/MOST, PFMEA, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
Software Skills: Familiarity with PLM tools (Codebeamer, Windchill, or Teamcenter) and digital manufacturing simulation software.
