Director of Claims

Strategic & Operational Leadership

• Lead, support, and develop a multi‑layered team of managers and claims professionals
• Oversee overall claims inventory, including investigation, coverage, evaluation, resolution, and litigation management
• Set claim handling standards, performance expectations, and resolution strategies across the organization
• Direct handling of the most complex and high‑severity claims, including mediations and trials

Litigation, Risk & Cross‑Functional Partnership

• Establish negotiation strategies and identify claims appropriate for trial
• Select, retain, and oversee defense counsel on litigated matters
• Partner closely with Underwriting on trends, case law, and statutory impacts to product lines
• Support underwriting decisions through policy and submission reviews, as needed
• Stay current on legislation, regulations, and industry developments impacting claims

Talent Development & Continuous Improvement

• Provide executive‑level leadership, coaching, and structured performance feedback
• Drive training initiatives in partnership with Training & Auditing to elevate claims capability
• Champion best practices, analytics‑driven decision‑making, and operational excellence across claims
