Summary of Job Duties:
Step into a dynamic, hands-on role where your skills truly make an impact! The Physician Extender, based in Little Rock at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, will partner with Orthopaedic Hand physicians to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care. In this fast-paced environment, you’ll support clinic operations, assist with procedures, help in the operating room, respond to pages, and round on inpatients across all Arkansas Children’s locations.This role is perfect for someone who thrives in both clinical and procedural settings. You’ll play a key part in enhancing physician efficiency by collecting and documenting patient data, supporting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, coordinating labs and consults, and providing direct patient care.
You’ll also be an essential part of the Orthopaedic after-hours call rotation, stepping in to provide urgent and emergent care including fracture reductions and other orthopedic procedures in the emergency department.

Qualifications:
PA:
Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant (PA) studies
Certified as a Physician’s Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
Physician Assistant certified in the State of Arkansas
Current BLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.
OR
APRN:
Masters in Nursing from an accredited School/College of Nursing
APRN License
Arkansas RN License
Current BLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Excellent communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and collaboration abilities.
Proficiency in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Ability to manage patient care and collaborate with attending surgeons.
Experience in surgical assisting and inpatient care
Additional Information:
Key Responsibilities:
Assist physicians in clinic, organizing visits, performing procedures, and rounding on inpatients as needed.
Augment physicians’ ability to provide medical services by collecting and documenting data, conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and ordering and scheduling lab studies and consultations.
Manage all aspects of patient care for surgical services, including new consultations, history and physical examinations, care planning, daily rounding, lab and imaging interpretation, and discharge planning.
Serve as surgical first assist for the above surgical services.
Collaborate with attending surgeons on initial care planning and inpatient management.
