Job Description Summary

As a Lead Accountant - International Pension and Payroll Projects, you will be responsible for various accounting and financial reporting activities related to payroll, compensation & benefits with a focus on GEHC’s international defined benefit programs.

In this role you will be responsible for the ongoing accounting and reporting for pension plans along with varied projects within the payroll accounting space. Ideal candidate should have experience in accounting and financial reporting in addition to solid skills in project management and working cross functionally in a global organization.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Serving as main resource on the yearly Global Defined Benefit Remeasurement process and coordinating revaluation entries and reconciliations.

  • Performing and coordinating controllership activities (account reconciliation/ journal entries) for 50+ postretirement plans on a monthly/quarterly basis.

  • Serving as System Administrator for FAStrack pension subledger system

  • Providing support for SEC reporting for pension processes for 10K/10Q reporting.

  • Preparing and providing support for external, internal, and statutory audit requests related to pension and postretirement accounting.

  • Partnering with relationships with payroll, treasury, HR, country/region controllership, and other external advisors.

  • Collaborating with the C&B Payroll team to identify centralization opportunities, assist with project planning, and track progress

  • Participating in accounting aspects of ongoing process improvements with a focus on account reconciliation automation, MJE reduction and improving control integrity.

  • Identifying opportunities and support development of ARCS tool to prevent manual MJEs and improve control integrity

  • Monitoring and reporting on the impact of projects on Controllership metrics

  • Assisting broader C&B Payroll team to ensure payroll liability and benefit accounts reflect appropriate obligations as of the balance sheet date and are properly reconciled.   This includes documenting policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Accounting or Finance,
  • Progressive experience in accounting functions,
  • Multiple country payroll accounting experience,
  • Experience with US GAAP accounting for multiple defined benefit plans in addition to statutory accounting experience,
  • Experience working in a global business environment with multiple countries with multiple ledger systems including Oracle and SAP ERPs,
  • Willingness and ability to ‘take ownership’ of processes,
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
  • Clear thinking / strong problem solving: able to work independently; manage multiple tasks,
  • Flexibility in working hours to accommodate teams in India/ Europe and management in the United States.

  • Experience working in global business environment with sound understanding of global process and transactional flows,

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint and Word),
  • Experience with ARCS tool for Account Reconciliation.
