Laboratory Technician

The purpose of this role will be to complete, to the required quality standards, the preparation of water samples for a given method and assist in the efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory. 

This a permanent position, working 30 hours a week - Wednesday to Saturday 08:00 till 16:00. 

Full training will be provided for this role.

• Preparation and analysis of water samples utilising good laboratory practice.
• Preparing and dispensing consumables.
• Ensure samples received are handled in accordance with documented procedures, including attention to temperature control, storage and maintenance of sample integrity.
• Maintenance of accurate and systematic records as detailed in the quality procedures.
• Perform calibrations, daily checks and other quality related tasks as required.
• Undergo training and follow laboratory SOPs and Safe Systems of Work.
• Work with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement.
• Report any anomalies or concerns to direct report.
• Comply with Health and Safety procedures keeping the working environment clean and tidy
• Maintenance of laboratory fittings and equipment as directed.
• Ensure personal protective equipment is worn in accordance with the Health & Safety policy.
• Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.

 

• Educated to GCSE level in Maths, English, Science or equivalent. 
• Experience in a fast paced working environment.
• Laboratory experience is desirable but not essential as full training provided.
• Good communication skills. 
• Awareness of good laboratory practices. 
• Enthusiasm, energy and a driven outlook.
