Role Summary:
Northern Trust Asset Management is seeking a Client Portfolio Manager (CPM) to support and enhance the firm’s $860 billion Equity platform, including quantitative, Index, and Tax‑Advantaged Equity (TAE) capabilities.
The Client Portfolio Management (CPM) team represents both the investment teams and the voice of the client. CPMs work flexibly across NTAM to deliver investment solutions and partner with distribution to identify client needs and opportunities for NTAM to address those needs. The successful candidate will support core activities critical to the team’s success and gain exposure that provides a clear path toward a client‑facing role.
Responsibilities for this role include owning, maintaining, and continuously improving the equity platform’s library of materials, including presentations, RFPs, thought leadership, and newsletters. The role is highly collaborative and supports responses to client requests, while providing extensive exposure to portfolio managers, researchers, distribution, marketing, business strategy, and clients.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Support the equity platform’s content library by maintaining and enhancing materials, improving processes, and partnering with stakeholders to deliver timely, value‑added content.
- Collaborate with distribution and product partners to develop, maintain, and refine positioning materials, and provide analytical support for client inquiries and requests.
- Conduct analysis to support client discussions and help identify opportunities for Northern Trust’s equity strategies.
Desired Qualifications and Attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Relevant post‑graduate study or progress toward a professional designation preferred (e.g., MBA or CFA).
- Prior experience supporting institutional, intermediary, or wealth distribution channels.
- Exposure to quantitative or systematic investment approaches.
- Experience in asset management, investment product strategy, client portfolio management, or investment communications, with a demonstrated ability to maintain and enhance client‑facing materials over time.
- Strong ability to work with and interpret investment data (e.g., performance, exposures, characteristics), including distilling complex information into clear, client‑ready insights and visuals.
- Advanced proficiency with content and presentation tools, including PowerPoint and Excel.
- Familiarity with industry tools such as Bloomberg, FactSet, eVestment, Morningstar, Seismic, and MandateWire.
- Strong attention to detail and high standards for accuracy and quality.
- Intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and a bias toward action.
Salary Range:
$88,900 - 151,100 USDSalary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
