Job description

Position Overview

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. Our Fraud Strategy & Analytics team is looking for an Analyst II, Fraud Analytics to drive improvements across the Trust and Safety online decisioning strategy and user journeys. In this role, you will leverage a sharp analytical mindset and strong business intuition to uncover optimization opportunities that enhance both user experience and safety. Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively explore data and identify opportunities to accelerate product development or improve existing products in the Trust and Safety domain.
  • Translate analysis and trends into recommendations for business logic to improve identity and fraud conversion or fraud rates.
  • Develop scalable frameworks to manage tiered cutoffs for proprietary fraud machine learning models.
  • Evaluate innovative data sources to solve fraud risk and partner with the data engineering team to maintain core analytical data pipelines.
  • Own the end-to-end analytics workflow, including defining success metrics, socializing them across the organization, and creating actionable dashboards and reports.
  • Collaborate with Machine Learning on building fraud and identity verification strategies for new products and market segments.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to identify high-impact points in the funnel that drive user acquisition and retention.

Required Qualifications

  • EXPERIENCE: 2-4 years of work experience in customer risk management, preferably in payments or financial services.
  • TECHNICAL SKILLS: Fluent in SQL and Python or R.
  • PEOPLE SKILLS: A team player with the ability to collaborate and influence across various teams.
  • COMMUNICATION: Ability to clearly communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE: Passion for understanding product functionality and driving improvements.
  • MULTI-TASKING: Strong time management skills with the capability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • EDUCATION: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitatively rigorous discipline such as engineering, statistics, math, or economics.
  • RISK KNOWLEDGE: Familiarity with payment processing fundamentals and industry risk trends, including risk strategy development.

Compensation & Equity

  • Pay Grade: K
  • Equity Grade: 6
  • USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT): $140,000 - $190,000 per year
  • USA base pay range (all other U.S. states): $124,000 - $174,000 per year
  • Additional compensation may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and other benefits.
