Fisher Associates is excited to offer an engaging internship program aimed at college students eager to gain practical experience in the field of civil engineering. This program is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional development, empowering students to transition effectively into the workforce.

We seek organized, self-motivated, and dependable students to join us. Interns can choose from various sectors, including Transportation, Land Development, and Energy, where they will work on diverse projects under direct supervision, gaining invaluable hands-on experience.

Who: Students currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering degree program or a related field.

What: Acquire professional experience by engaging in tasks related to design, analysis, and project implementation within our diverse service lines.

Where: At any of our office locations!

When: We accept internship applications year-round, with timelines adapting to manager needs and student schedules.

Primary Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain strong client relationships following the Fisher Clientship philosophy.
• Perform engineering analysis and design tasks.
• Prepare organized engineering calculations.
• Assist technical staff with various day-to-day design tasks across multiple projects.
• Conduct basic engineering functions, including design calculations and cost estimates, under supervision.
• Collaborate with team members to meet project deliverables and deadlines.
• Prepare construction specifications with direct supervision.
• Support senior engineers in organizing and preparing reports, studies, or bid packages.
• Participate in site visits and inspections to gather data and assess project conditions, as needed.
• May have opportunities to visit active construction projects under the guidance of a senior engineer or project manager.

Requirements: Education & Experience

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Strong academic performance in relevant coursework.
• Familiarity with engineering principles, design codes, and standards. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Candidates should be able to meet the physical demands associated with this internship, including:

• Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
• Willingness to travel to various project sites and navigate construction areas.
• Exposure to various environmental conditions, including dust, noise, grease, smoke, and inclement weather.

Salary Range

$23/hour
