About the Role
The Medical Receptionist 1 serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors within a healthcare setting, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare environment preferred but not required.
- Basic proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.
- Experience with specific EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare billing procedures.
- Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community.
- Customer service experience in a healthcare or related setting.
Responsibilities
- Greet and check in patients upon arrival, verifying personal and insurance information accurately.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical personnel.
- Maintain patient records and ensure all documentation complies with privacy regulations such as HIPAA.
- Collect co-payments and process billing information as required.
- Coordinate communication between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to facilitate efficient patient care.
- Manage waiting room flow and notify medical staff of patient arrivals promptly.
- Perform general clerical duties including filing, faxing, and managing office supplies.
