Job Summary
The Connex Developer at Synechron is responsible for designing, building, and supporting Connex-based payment solutions that underpin critical transaction processing systems. The role ensures that technology solutions are robust, compliant, and scalable, contributing to the organization’s security, availability, and business objectives in the rapidly evolving financial technology sector.
Software Requirements
Required
Proficiency in TAL/pTAL and TACL programming languages (minimum 7-10 years hands-on development experience).
Strong experience in COBOL for high-volume, transaction-based applications.
Extensive familiarity with Guardian OS and Pathways for HPE Nonstop systems.
Advanced knowledge and practical experience with SQL/MX and Enscribe databases, including query optimization and data modeling.
In-depth understanding of Connex system architecture (AP, TH, PI, SDX) and component interactions.
Applied experience with AS2805 and ISO messaging standards in payment environments.
Thorough understanding of VISA, MasterCard, and EFTPOS scheme regulations and procedures.
Demonstrated use of MasterCard, VISA, and FINSIM simulators for testing and validation.
Preferred
Exposure to newer payment protocols or evolving Connex platform features.
Familiarity with other payment industry standards and emerging regulatory requirements.
Overall Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and enhance Connex solutions to meet business and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate across technical and business teams to design and implement robust payment processing applications.
Participate in the full software development lifecycle: coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support for Connex-related issues.
Contribute to the evolution of Connex features and underlying architecture to enable scalability and future enhancements.
Maintain strict compliance with relevant standards, best practices, and internal Synechron policies.

Minimum 7-10 years in software development with a focus on Connex solutions and HPE Nonstop systems
Substantial experience in financial services or payment processing environments
Alternative: Candidates with high-volume, mission-critical systems experience in regulated industries may also be considered
Proven success in delivering and supporting payment or transaction-based projects
Day-to-Day Activities
Gather requirements and design solutions through collaborative sessions with business and technical stakeholders
Develop, test, and deploy code for new features and system enhancements
Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure high-quality, maintainable code
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within Connex applications to maintain system performance
Document technical specifications, design decisions, and operational processes
Participate in team meetings, project reviews, and knowledge sharing
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Preferred: Relevant certifications (e.g., HPE Nonstop, Payment Systems) or equivalent training
Ongoing participation in professional development activities
