What We Offer Novant Health Pediatric Surgery - Elizabeth is seeking a full-time Surgical Technologist! Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm The Surgical Technologist works under the supervision of a surgeon and registered nurse to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. What You'll Do Job responsibilities include: Ensures all required surgical supplies and equipment are available and functional; scrubs, gowns, and gloves for procedures; and sets up sterile tables with instruments, supplies, medications, and solutions for up to approximately 4 surgical cases per day, in compliance with policy. Assists surgeons throughout procedures by performing surgical counts per NH policy, gowning and gloving surgeons and assistants, preparing and draping the sterile field, and efficiently passing instruments and supplies during multiple cases daily. Prepares sterile dressings and manages instruments during and after procedures, including cleaning, decontamination, and preparation for terminal sterilization to support timely case turnover. Collaborates with the surgical team to clean and prepare operating rooms between cases, ensuring efficient room readiness for subsequent patients. Provides potential administrative support within the clinic, including assisting with operating room case scheduling and related coordination as needed. What We're Looking For Education : High School Diploma or GED, required. Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent (68D – Operating Room Specialist). For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification please see additional skills required. Online Surgical Tech program credits will not be accepted. Experience : Previous Surgical Technologist experience, preferred. Licensure/Certification: Current Surgical Tech Certification (CST, TS-C, NRCST, or SA-C), preferred. Current Surgical Tech Certification - based on state specific regulations (South Carolina Region Only), required. Additional Skills (required): For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification the following additional requirements may apply: recommended for new graduates to obtain certification within 12months of hire. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validation and competency testing.
