JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for supporting the Controller in directing the activities of the Finance Department, including but not limited to the financial close, forecasting, and financial analysis functions.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- General ledger accounting to ensure adherence with generally accepted accounting principles, internal controls and company policies and procedures
- Assist in preparing financial forecast(s) which will include financial analysis to support Revenue, Profit, Overhead expense, and land cashflow projections
- Assist in meeting all monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements of internal and external users, including month-end procedures and preparation of journal entries and reconciliations
- Assist in directing and overseeing the review of Real Estate Tax payments (semi-annually)
- Assist with review of payroll for accuracy & completeness (monthly)
- Work with and provide financial information to internal and external auditors and responds to the audit reports, as required
- Review & approve expenditures and invoices within established company guidelines
- Work with department managers to ensure consistent application of the company’s finance policies
- Assist Land and Finance teams to ensure land entitlement and development budgets are supported by appropriate documentation
- Lead monthly reviews with Land and Finance teams to reconcile all land balances and development budgets
- Regular participation in field visits which includes assessment and review of community performance compared to expectations and physical observation of community development progress
- Assist in the land acquisition feasibility process with financial analysis required as part of the submission for Company approval
- Prepare community land budget(s) and lot cost calculations

REQUIRED EDUCATION: (degree, licenses, certifications, etc.)
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting (or equivalent in related field)
- Certified Public Accounting license (active or inactive) preferred
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: (work related, tools/equipment, software, etc.):
- Related Functional Experience: Minimum of 3 years public and/or corporate accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reports
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organize and manage long-term projects
