Job description
Support top management and National ESH in driving ESH and security excellence at the Senai site through effective implementation of strategies, culture building, and adherence to corporate standards.
The role ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, promotes Behavior Based Safety and Sika minimum standards, supports the implementation and maintenance of the Sika Management System in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards, and conducts ESH audits while monitoring performance trends and follow up actions.
EHS Strategy and Program Implementation
- Support the development and implementation of EHS and security strategies aligned with corporate and regional initiatives for the Senai plant.
- Work closely with National ESH, QA, and Compliance teams to deploy new programs, audit frameworks, and report standards across the site while ensuring effective communication at all levels of the organization.
Policies, Management Systems and Documentation
- Support the development, review, and update of EHS policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with corporate standards and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate periodic reviews of the Sika Management System (SMS) for the Senai site and work with the QA department to update and standardize procedures.
- Ensure proper documentation control and that only approved documents are used within the organization.
Audits, Risk Assessment and Corrective Actions
- Coordinate and perform internal EHS and security audits using regional tools and prepare reports or dashboards in a timely manner.
- Conduct regular safety walks and risk assessments with site leadership to identify hazards and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure timely follow up and closure of non-conformities and audit findings.
Training and Awareness
- Develop and deliver EHS and security training programs for employees at all levels to promote compliance and strengthen the EHS culture.
- Coordinate training programs related to quality, environmental, safety, and health requirements for relevant staff.
Incident Management and Reporting
- Support and lead investigations into EHS incidents, accidents, and near misses at the Senai site.
- Conduct root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and prepare detailed incident reports.
- Ensure timely reporting to management, authorities, and group functions while supporting other Sika Malaysia sites when required.
Performance Monitoring and Compliance
- Monitor EHS and security performance through corporate or country defined KPIs and metrics.
- Manage reporting systems such as SpheraCloud and support improvement actions based on leading and lagging indicators
Supplier and Contractor Management
- Collaborate with Procurement to evaluate the EHS performance of suppliers and contractors and ensure compliance with company EHS standards throughout the supply chain.
Regulatory Compliance and External Liaison
- Stay updated on relevant EHS regulations and ensure the site remains compliant with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with consultants, statutory bodies such as DOE, DOSH, and BOMBA, and certification bodies on matters related to quality, environmental, security, health, and safety compliance.
Continuous Improvement
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance EHS, security, and QA practices at the Senai site and across Sika Malaysia.
Security Responsibilities
- Oversee site security operations, including management of static guards and protection of critical areas such as the server room.
- Enforce site security rules and ensure proper control of people and vehicle access.
- Maintain visitor logs, conduct security checks, and coordinate with IT to ensure controlled access to the server room.
- Ensure confidentiality of company information and adherence to information security policies
Others
- Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.
Limitations of Authority
- No purchase of equipment and / or materials without approval from OM/ GM
- Bachelor’s degree/ Post Graduate Diploma/ Professional Degree in Engineering (Environmental/Health/Safety) or equivalent.
- 3 to 4 years’ working experience in a Manufacturing environment in the role of Safety, Health and Environment
- Well verse with the following Acts:
- Occupational Safety & Health Acts
- Environmental Quality Acts
- Factories & Machinery Acts
- ESH Management system
- Experience developing and delivering EHS training programs.
- Certifications in quality audit, improvement, EHS competency are added advantages
- Experience in SAP is added advantage.
- In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices, particularly in the manufacturing industry
