What You'll Do Provide comprehensive medication counseling to patients, including proper administration, dosing, side effects, storage, and adherence strategies Assess patient understanding of therapy and address questions or concerns to optimize treatment outcomes Collaborate with healthcare providers to review prescriptions for appropriateness, accuracy, and clinical effectiveness Conduct clinical assessments to identify potential drug interactions, contraindications, and therapy-related issues Support initiation and continuation of specialty therapies, including patient education on complex treatment regimens Coordinate medication fulfillment activities, including order verification, processing, and dispensing in compliance with regulatory standards Ensure accurate and timely prescription processing, including benefits investigation and prior authorization support when applicable Monitor patient adherence and follow up on therapy outcomes, documenting interventions as needed Maintain detailed and accurate patient records in accordance with pharmacy and healthcare regulations Participate in medication therapy management (MTM) programs to optimize patient care Provide guidance on financial assistance programs and specialty medication access resources Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards related to specialty pharmacy operations Collaborate with pharmacy technicians and support staff to streamline workflow and ensure efficient medication delivery Stay current with emerging specialty medications, clinical guidelines, and therapeutic best practices What We're Looking For Education: 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, required. Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) Certification, required. PharmD, preferred. Experience: One year postgraduate year 1 residency or fellowship OR two years of experience as a registered pharmacist in health system pharmacy. Oncology experience preferred for oncology roles, required. Two year for Infectious Diseases/Antimicrobial Stewardship roles: ASHP - accredited PGY2 Infectious Disease residency OR minimum of 2 years of equivalent clinical pharmacy experience in infectious diseases/antimicrobial stewardship, required. Licensure/Certification: Current Pharmacy licensure in appropriate state(s) or must be completed within 30 days of start date by either examination or reciprocity, required. Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification or other approved certification must be obtained and continuously maintained within 2 years of start date as applicable to the role, required. Additional Skills (required): Other duties as outlined in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed.
