Full-time | Senior Executive Leadership Role
Epworth HealthCare is Victoria’s largest not-for-profit private health care group, known for exceptional patient outcomes, innovation and compassionate care. We are seeking an experienced Director of Operations to provide senior operational leadership at Epworth Eastern, supporting performance, growth and operational excellence across the site.
The Opportunity
This critical leadership role ensures Epworth Eastern has dedicated, senior operational oversight to drive daily site operations and deliver the annual activity, bed and service plans. Reporting to the Executive General Manager, Epworth Eastern, the Director of Operations is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and works closely with clinical leaders, medical staff and corporate partners.
You will be accountable for whole-of-site operational performance, translating strategic priorities into practical, high-quality service delivery while supporting innovative models of care and growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visible, values-led leadership across Epworth Eastern
- Drive operational performance across admissions, bed utilisation, procedures and labour management
- Lead and deliver the annual activity, bed and procedural plans
- Oversee day-to-day hospital operations, including procedural services, hospital coordination, discharge and unplanned admissions
- Partner with clinical leaders and doctors to support safe, efficient, high-quality care
- Progress models of care, service growth initiatives and business development opportunities
- Lead site operational responses to planned and unplanned works, including IT and infrastructure
- Ensure strong clinical governance, quality, safety, risk management and accreditation outcomes
- Build capable teams through workforce planning, performance development and engagement
About You
You are a collaborative, decisive and influential senior leader with substantial operational experience in a hospital or complex healthcare setting. You bring a strong track record in performance improvement, stakeholder engagement and leading change in fast-paced environments.
You will have:
- Current registration with AHPRA and relevant postgraduate leadership/management qualifications
- Senior operational leadership experience within healthcare
- Strong understanding of quality, safety, risk and workforce management
- Experience working closely with medical staff and executive stakeholders
- A solutions-focused mindset with the ability to translate strategy into action
