Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY The Athletic Trainer (ATC) is a certified and licensed professional responsible for evaluating, planning, and administering care for injured student-athletes. Services are provided under the direct supervision of the assigned team physician through Beacon Orthopedics, with a focus on injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and safe return to sport. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND STANDARDS General Responsibilities Attend department, clinic, and company meetings as required. Demonstrate sound professional judgment and take appropriate action when concerns or questionable findings arise. Work consistently in a positive, collaborative, and respectful manner with colleagues and stakeholders. Adapt effectively to changing priorities and operational needs, including the ability to reprioritize tasks as necessary. Attend required quarterly athletic training meetings, periodic clinic staff meetings, clinic in-services, and monthly journal club meetings. Maintain familiarity with and adherence to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards. Identify potentially unsafe conditions and promptly report concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Job Duties Organize and administer the school-based athletic training program for extracurricular athletics, including injury recognition, evaluation, treatment, referral, and follow-up care. Perform thorough evaluations of athletic injuries, determining appropriate treatment within the athletic training facility or the need for referral to allied healthcare professionals. Provide comprehensive preventive, acute, and rehabilitative care utilizing therapeutic modalities, corrective exercise, and sport-specific functional progression. Establish and maintain strong communication and collaborative relationships with team physicians, serving as a liaison among athletes, coaches, parents, and physicians. Maintain complete and accurate injury documentation in accordance with departmental policies related to timeliness, format, and content. Maintain a flexible work schedule to ensure appropriate coverage of practices, competitions, rehabilitation hours, and special events as outlined in the individual school contract. Manage the athletic training room budget, including purchasing, tracking, and inventory of supplies and equipment. Coordinate and support annual continuing education requirements for coaches, including but not limited to Pupil Activity Validation and Adult CPR/AED certification. Assist colleagues as needed with shared coverage responsibilities, tournaments, CPR/First Aid instruction, and summer pre-participation physical examinations. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Current licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Ohio, with active BOC (Board of Certification) certification. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education. Emotional stability and professionalism to exercise consistent sound judgment, ethical conduct, and sensitivity to the needs of athletes, staff, and the broader school community. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands of this position include the ability to frequently: Hear, speak, read, and comprehend verbal and written communication. Stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and manipulate objects. Climb, pull, push, squat, kneel, and demonstrate physical exercises without limitation. The role requires the ability to lift more than 50 pounds unassisted when necessary, with routine lifting averaging between 25–50 pounds. USD $25.26/Hr. USD $40.71/Hr.
