Position Location This position is based in Kunia and Wahiawa, HI. Job Overview Under direction of the Building Systems Manager, the Fire Alarm System Mechanic facilitates the repair and maintenance of all fire alarm systems. The incumbent will provide the daily maintenance operations and activities for all assigned facilities. The incumbent receives and evaluates work orders and requests, investigates requests or problems where appropriate and completes the necessary repairs. Responsibilities Essential Job Duties: Performs the Fire Alarm duties necessary to maintain all buildings and structures in good repairindependently. Works with other Mechanics to share specialized skills and experience related to fire systemsmaintenance and repair. Incumbent may be required to assist the Sprinkler Team on occasions.Performs installations, inspections, periodic tests, maintenance, and repairs installed fire alarmdetection and suppression systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and NationalFire Protection Association standards. Participate in regularly scheduled Fire Alarm Drills.Inspects fire alarm equipment visually and replaces defective components. Tests initiating and signal circuits, detectors, and system transmitter and makes needed repairs. Must have good writing skills; incumbent will be required to complete the NFPA Forms for FireAlarm Testing and Inspections.Testing and inspecting of the Fire Extinguishers. Work with various subcontractors. Incumbent shall coordinate and work with thesubcontractors as required. Individual must be able to interpret wiring diagrams in order tolocate failures.Work involves planning and layout of work from blueprints, drawings, models, and verbal andwritten instructions.Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.Plans, organizes work, and meets all deadlines. Able to do a variety of tasks in any single day.Coordinates with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper andcorrect materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary forthe job/task.Submits outage request as required. Incumbent will have to support outages, which mayrequire alternating work schedule.Responds emergency site maintenance as required.Inspects and diagnoses problems to determine corrective repairs.Performs on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.Helps perform periodic stock inventories and prepare material requisitions for replacement items as required. Occasionally operates Government or CISL-owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.Performs various lower classified duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintain warehouse space and telephone answering as required.Supports and assists other department staff and trade groups in daily operations as needed or directed.Adheres to the established CFS safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.Ability to work overtime as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Key Responsibilities: Timely and cost effective performance of duties.Harmoniously working with other CISL employees and customers. Working with the Facility Supervisor to outline work to be done, after which incumbent is expected to work independently. Guidelines include those established by the Facility Supervisor and Operations Management, manufacturer handbooks, the National, State and Local Electric Code, and engineering handbooks appropriate to the trade. Job Requirements Mandatory: High School graduate or equivalent. Six (6) years of experience in the fire alarm maintenance field. Must obtain a NICET II or Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) Certification within six (6) months of hire. Demonstrated ability to install, troubleshoot and repair various fire alarm systems, controls and equipment including addressable fire alarm and suppression systems with minimal supervision. Working knowledge of solid-state and conventional control circuitry.Familiarity with basic mathematical functions is required.Extensive knowledge of hand and power tools. Extensive knowledge of applicable codes and standards.Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations. Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision. U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain and maintain an intelligence community clearance.Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen. Valid state driver’s license. Preferred: Seven (7) years of experience in the fire alarm maintenance field. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite. NICET III or higher Certification. Working Conditions: Must be able to perform organize workload with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful work environment. Must be able work well under pressure. Must be able to organize and meet required deadlines. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds. Ability to meet and carry out requirements for operation of powered industrial equipmentincluding hand pallets and fork trucks.
