Salary Range: $41,820.00-$111,539.00
BUDGETED SALARY: $45,000.00
Essential Duties:
- Enforces policy and procedures.
- Organizes, plans, develops, directs, and conducts various therapeutic recreation programs for all ages to include athletics, the arts, social activities, and special events within a budget.
- Accountable for monitoring programs and safety-related conditions
- Responsible for managing, scheduling, marketing, and publicizing County programs.
- Inspects and evaluates facility conditions, requirements and safety standards.
- Compiles report information for the following: monthly and annual activity reports for County programs; operating and capital budget requests; facility use forms; maintenance requests; supervisor incident reports; financial accountings of revenues taken in and expenses from facility/programs; and other information as requested.
- Gathers information for calendars, flyers, and newsletters.
- Deals with unusual circumstances relating to programs or facilities, emergencies, including telephone calls at home during evenings, weekend or holidays which may require immediate action i.e., additional telephone calls or visiting the site to solve problem(s).
- Answers correspondence.
- Attends meetings.
Years of Experience:
4 years of working with individuals with varying disabilities
Education can be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Years of Supervisory Experience:
None
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related area of study such as Special Education, Recreation, Education, Physical Education, etc. preferred
Certifications, Licensures, and Examinations:
Within 6 months of hire;
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) (Required); Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (Required); First-Aid Certification (Required)
Possession of a valid Class "C" non-commercial driver's license with no more than three (3) points. Be advised this position requires a valid driver's license. Your application will not be considered if you fail to include the full driver's license number on the electronic application.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to provide leisure opportunities to individuals with varying disabilities of all ages
- Working knowledge of recreation and administrative principles and practices
- Working knowledge of developing procedures and forms
- Working knowledge of developing and conducting recreation programs
- Knowledge of, or the ability to learn terms, procedures, and operation relating to area of work
- Ability to use Microsoft Office
- Ability to learn new software programs as needed
- Ability to maintain record systems
- Ability to deal effectively with the public and with other employees and departments
- Ability to prepare analytical reports and to compile data
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, stand, or sit for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to drive a County vehicle while carrying out some assignments

Must comply with all Federal (OSHA), State of Maryland (MOSH), safety regulations and applicable Harford County safety policies, procedures, or manual as required for this position.
