Since September 2009, Whitecap has experienced remarkable growth, increasing production from 850 boe/d to over 365,000 boe/d. We have unconventional and conventional assets exclusively focused in Western Canada and the asset base includes the Weyburn EOR Project. As a majority owner and operator of the Weyburn EOR Project, annually we safely sequester approximately 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 making it a unique project within our portfolio. We currently employ 1,200 people, including our valued contract staff.

Position Overview:
A Gas Plant Operator position is available at our Kaybob Gas Processing facility located approximately 100km west of Whitecourt near Fox Creek AB. Reporting to the Plant Foreman you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the equipment and processes. You will provide direct guidance and support to operations and maintenance staff as well as contractors to consistently meet or exceed expectations in the following areas: production; operating costs; corporate values; environment, health and safety, training; regulatory; and emergency response.
Key Job Accountabilities:
Oversee plant operations.
Monitor and troubleshoot operating equipment.
Responsible for isolation and permitting activities in a large industrial setting
Perform general housekeeping.
Ensure plant adheres to safety and environmental rules.
Identify process deviations and perform root cause/corrective action.
Conduct area inspections and audits.
Control and operate equipment such as loaders, trucks, and forklifts.
Handle material and cargo.
Perform preventive and routine maintenance.
Replenish inventory as needed.
Primary Qualifications and Skills:
Experience in sour gas processing facilities preferred
Minimum 4th class Power Engineering certificate
Demonstrated ability to adapt to process changes and modifications
Demonstrated computer literacy and knowledge of automated operations systems
Excellent communication skill
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
Work well with others in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work twelve hour rotating shifts and cover other operators during their absences.

Qualified candidates must have ability to work a 7 days ON/7 days OFF rotation with 12 hour shifts
Work location is near Fox Creek or Whitecourt, Alberta.
Successful candidate will be required to work overtime as well as holidays if they fall during normal work schedule.
