Job description

Logistic Specialist

Part of the global bioeconomy, Stora Enso is a leading provider of renewable products in packaging, biomaterials and wooden construction, and one of the largest private forest owners in the world. We believe that everything that is made from fossil-based materials today can be made from a tree tomorrow. We employ approximately 19,000 people.

Career for a better climate. Every day.

We are now looking for a Logistic Specialist to join our team in Ostrava, Czechia.

As a Logistics Specialist, you play a critical role in connecting production, transport, suppliers, and customers. You take ownership of delivery planning and execution, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and efficiency.

You anticipate challenges before they occur, communicate clearly with all stakeholders, and actively contribute to improving systems and processes that support a high-performing supply chain.

The position is offered on a fixed-term contract until 31 May 2027.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, book, dispatch, and optimize deliveries in line with customer commitments and supply chain accuracy, making full use of existing transport agreements and Automatic Load Planning tools.

  • Provide reliable volume forecasts to suppliers to support capacity planning and operational alignment.

  • Perform daily follow-up on all loads and deliveries, prioritizing based on customer segmentation (A-B-C-D).

  • Proactively communicate delays, risks, and alternative solutions to all relevant stakeholders.

  • Actively participate in the further development and optimization of the logistics planning system, leveraging system capabilities to improve customer fulfilment and operational efficiency.

  • Handle customs-related activities in compliance with regulations and internal guidelines.

  • Take part in structured performance reviews with stakeholders (weekly, monthly, quarterly), addressing KPIs, complaints, deviations, and improvement opportunities.

  • Act as the central point of contact for logistics-related issues such as damages, delays, and complaints, ensuring swift follow-up and resolution.

  • Actively control logistics costs by avoiding unnecessary spot transport, idle time, and inefficiencies through close coordination with suppliers, production, and loading locations.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers’ booking departments, with a solid understanding of SLAs and performance expectations.

  • Monitor supplier performance, support continuous improvement, and proactively flag upcoming or potential capacity or service issues.

  • Manage loading locations by monitoring (un)loading capacity, intervening when limits are reached, and coordinating actions with colleagues, transport partners, and loading sites to ensure smooth operations.

  • Participate in cross-functional task forces and improvement initiatives together with Sales and Procurement.

What are we looking for

We are looking for a proactive and solution-oriented Logistics Specialist who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and enjoys taking ownership of complex logistics flows.

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management, or a related field.

  • Several years of experience in logistics planning, transport coordination, or supply chain operations.

  • Strong understanding of end-to-end logistics processes, including production planning, transport execution, and customer fulfilment.

  • Experience working with logistics or transport management systems; familiarity with automatic load planning tools is a strong asset.

  • Ability to manage priorities effectively, especially when dealing with critical or time-sensitive deliveries.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders such as suppliers, transport partners, production sites, sales, and procurement.

  • A problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying risks and proposing practical solutions.

  • Cost-aware and performance-driven, with a focus on minimizing extra costs and improving operational efficiency.

  • Comfortable working in a data-driven environment, using KPIs and performance metrics to support decision-making.

  • A team player who can also work independently and take ownership of decisions.

  • Fluent in English; additional languages are considered an asset.
