JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The College of Agricultural Sciences is seeking applicants for part-time job of greenhouse research assistant.
Job duties to include:
- Assist with planting, pruning, and harvesting of apple and peach trees.
- Perform regular maintenance tasks—including weed control and crop-load management—to support optimal tree health.
- Participate in fruit assessment activities and sample preparation in the lab.
- Learn and apply lab techniques for analyzing soil and fruit samples.
- Contribute to ongoing research projects related to sustainable orchard practices.
Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:
- 5+ years of experience in managing tree fruit field research trials
- Demonstrated interest in sustainability and tree-fruit production.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the Rock Springs orchard.
- Willingness to learn and work in a dynamic outdoor environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Flexible availability: some projects involve statewide travel and extended days (10–12 hours).
Schedule: 20 hours/week

Compensation:
The starting rate for this job is $22.65/hour.
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
