About the Position

Philmac has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Technician to join our Product Development team in North Plympton Adelaide. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys testing, working with real products, and being part of a team that values quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

In this role, you will be responsible for testing new and existing Philmac products, conducting general laboratory maintenance inspections, and ensuring accurate calibration of equipment. You will work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders across Product Development, Quality, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Production, contributing to the delivery of high-quality and innovative products.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Test new and existing Philmac products in accordance with relevant standards.

  • Prepare accurate and detailed test reports to document methods, results, and conclusions

  • Reviewing results and identifying opportunities to improve testing methods, processes, or product performance

  • Maintain lab equipment, calibration, and general housekeeping

  • Coordinate laboratory work schedules and support departmental testing requirements

  • Maintain NATA approval status, ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements and laboratory procedures

  • Ensure compliance with Work Health & Safety (WHS) requirements, including safe work practices, hazard identification, risk assessments, and incident reporting.

About You

We are looking for someone who takes pride in what you do and enjoys working through problems. You’re reliable, open to new ideas, and comfortable working with others to get the best outcome.

  • A qualification in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline.

  • 3–5 years demonstrated experience working within a test laboratory environment.

  • Proven experience testing Plumbing and/or Irrigation products against relevant standards (desirable).

  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and ISO 14001 Quality Management Systems.

  • A results-driven approach, with strong observance to test laboratory policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and present technical information clearly.

  • Self-motivated, resilient, and capable of working autonomously, while also contributing effectively within a team.

  • A proactive, analytical mindset, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
