Job description

The Manager, Talent and Development, will lead the development programs within the production department. This role ensures that production staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with leadership abilities, focused on continuous improvement and fostering a culture of learning and development across Electrical Equipment Center of Excellence (EECOE). This role is a strategic thought partner to the Vice President, People, and a key leader influencing operational culture, training and development, and execution across the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to create and analyze a training and development plan to use within our manufacturing facility to address production processes, safety protocols, machinery operations, and quality control.
  • Work closely with department heads to identify skill gaps and create personalized development plans for employees.
  • Continuously evaluate employees’ training needs through assessments, performance reviews, and feedback from production supervisors.
  • Coordinate learning and development courses regarding coaching, mentoring, and leadership development to support career growth with the production departments.
  • Continuously track the effectiveness of the training programs using key performance indicators and metrics.
  • Coordinate and/or administer skills or competency assessments, career counseling, and other specialized training and development programs for employees.
  • Prepare and present reports on training activities, progress, and employee performance to senior management
  • Work closely with HR, production management, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of training programs with overall business strategies.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve training materials and programs.
  • Always look for ways to improve the processes that are put into place based on employee feedback, process changes, and production needs.
  • Responsible for researching additional outside training opportunities for all levels of the organization.

Supervisory Requirements

  • This role will have direct reports.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in training and development, in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of production processes, machinery, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience in partnering with third-party vendors regarding training and development.
  • Proven experience delivering training programs and workshops.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with training technologies, eLearning tools, and Learning Management systems is a plus.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • FLSA executive and professional positions paid on a salary basis, where project requirements and tight client deadlines may require workweeks over forty (40) hours (including weekends or holidays)  
  • This role will work in an office setting, however, frequent visits to the production floor are required to oversee operations, ensure compliance and safety standards, and engage staff. 
    • Mobility: Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs. 
    • Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. 
    • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items up to twenty-five (25) pounds. All lifting should be done following OSHA standards. 
    • Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members.
