What you'll do...

Job Description: Licensed Plumber Trainer (Introductory + Licensed-Level) Position Summary The Licensed Plumber Trainer is responsible for delivering high-quality plumbing instruction to new hires and existing General Maintenance Technicians supporting Walmart and Sam’s Club facilities, as well as technicians that service other businesses that have contracted for our services. This role designs and delivers training that spans introductory plumbing fundamentals through licensed-level content, with a strong emphasis on safety, code compliance, and consistent field execution. Must live around or relocate to Bentonville, AR Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver plumbing training (introductory through licensed-level): Teach core plumbing concepts, systems, tools, materials, and best practices, progressing to advanced/licensed-level troubleshooting, repair, and installation methods.
  • Onboard and upskill technicians: Train new hires and provide continuing education for existing General Maintenance Technicians; assess skill gaps and tailor instruction accordingly.
  • Train contracted service technicians: Provide standardized training to technicians who have responsibility of taking care of other businesses that have contracted with Walmart to service their facility, to ensure consistent quality, safety, and service expectations across locations.
  • Safety-first instruction: Lead safety training as a priority, including hazard recognition, PPE, lockout/tagout (as applicable), confined space awareness (as applicable), ladder safety, hot work awareness, chemical handling, and incident prevention practices.
  • Code and compliance alignment: Teach and reinforce applicable plumbing codes/standards and safe work practices; ensure training content reflects current requirements and approved methods.
  • Curriculum and materials development: Create and maintain lesson plans, hands-on lab exercises, job aids, checklists, and assessments for multiple skill levels.
  • Hands-on skills evaluation: Observe and evaluate technician performance in practical exercises (e.g., fixture replacement, drain/vent troubleshooting, water
  • heater service, leak detection/repair, backflow basics where applicable), documenting proficiency and readiness.
  • Training delivery methods: Facilitate classroom, virtual, and field-based training; adapt delivery to different learning styles and experience levels.
  • Quality and consistency: Standardize training outcomes across regions/teams; reinforce workmanship standards and customer service expectations.
  • Recordkeeping and reporting: Track attendance, completions, certifications (where applicable), and assessment results; provide progress updates to stakeholders.
  • Continuous improvement: Gather feedback, analyze training effectiveness, and update content to address recurring field issues, safety trends, and performance opportunities.
  • Collaboration: Partner with maintenance leadership, safety partners, and operations stakeholders to align training with business needs and service expectations.
Required Qualifications
  • Active plumbing license (level appropriate to teach licensed-level content; e.g., Journeyman/Master as required by jurisdiction).
  • Demonstrated experience performing commercial plumbing work (installation, repair, troubleshooting) in a multi-site or facilities environment.
  • Proven ability to train, coach, or mentor technicians (formal instructor experience preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of plumbing codes, safe work practices, and jobsite risk controls.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, teach technical concepts, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Comfort with documentation, basic reporting, and use of common training tools (LMS, video conferencing, presentations).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience training mixed audiences (new hires, experienced technicians, and third-party contractors).
  • Safety training credentials (e.g., OSHA 30, train-the-trainer, first aid/CPR) or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience developing curriculum, assessments, and hands-on lab activities.
  • Familiarity with facilities maintenance programs and service-level expectations in retail environments.

Physical / Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to demonstrate plumbing tasks and safely operate common tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work in training labs, mechanical rooms, rooftops, and other facilities environments as needed.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $155,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
