The Senior Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of strategic client programs across the BioAgilytix global network. This role serves as a key client-facing leader, ensuring effective program execution, strong cross-functional coordination, and high-quality delivery aligned with client expectations.
Operating within a global, matrixed CRO environment, the Senior Portfolio Manager partners closely with Project Management, Business Development, and Finance to support program delivery, financial accuracy, and client satisfaction. The role focuses on execution excellence, risk identification, and portfolio-level coordination, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and portfolio management best practices.
Essential Responsibilities: Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned strategic client programs, maintaining strong working relationships and ensuring alignment with client expectations Support a client-centric approach to program delivery, working in close partnership with site-based Project Managers Provide consistent communication and coordination across clients and internal stakeholders Oversee delivery of programs across multiple sites, ensuring alignment with timelines, scope, and quality expectations Partner with Project Managers to support execution across all phases, from analytical development through project close-out Ensure visibility into program status, key milestones, and potential risks Collaborate with Business Development, Proposals, and Finance to support scope alignment and updates, pricing and contract modifications (as needed), resolution of invoicing and purchase order issues Act as a liaison across functions to ensure smooth program execution and stakeholder alignment Execute client governance meetings, including preparation of materials, facilitation, and follow-up actions Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to governance forums to support informed decision-making Proactively identify risks and issues, escalating through appropriate channels and supporting resolution Support portfolio financial performance through forecast accuracy, invoicing accuracy, milestone tracking and financial coordination with Finance Contribute to the development and tracking of additional portfolio KPIs Promote consistency in portfolio and program execution by recommending and reinforcing best practices Support the adoption of tools, templates, and processes that enhance delivery and visibility Contribute to PMO initiatives and continuous improvement efforts, including supporting transformation activities as needed
Minimum Preferred Qualifications: Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field (Master’s preferred) 8 – 10+ years of experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or CRO environments 3 – 5 years’ experience in project/program management, including multi-site program delivery 3 – 5 years’ experience in portfolio-level coordination or oversight for strategic accounts Experience in bioanalytical services preferred Exposure to CDMO/CMO environments a plus Skills Strong client management and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional programs in a matrix environment Solid understanding of financial processes, including forecasting and invoicing Effective risk identification and problem-solving capabilities Ability to operate with autonomy while aligning with broader organizational goals Strong organizational and coordination skills with attention to detail Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet or equivalent) PMP certification preferred

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position that is local to North Carolina but remote Travel is expected with an anticipated amount up to 25% Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours as published in the BioAgilytix Employee Handbook Occasional weekends, holiday, and evening work required
