General
Adhere to all company policies, processes, procedures, rules and regulations at all times
Assist in making buildings weather tight for nights/weekends and when appropriate during work
days; be alert to pending weather conditions
At times, will need to work in coordination with sub-trades. (Remember the subcontractor works
for NRB and their conformance to the flow of work is essential and expected. This is not to say
that the subcontractor’s requests do not have to be taken into account as NRB wants all
subcontractors to succeed and be profitable also, but flow of work in the MOC plan takes
precedence. Any conflicts you have with a subcontractor in this regard should be addressed to
the Weld Shop Supervisor as it will be his responsibility to address these issues with the
subcontractor’s project manager)
Be a participant in
o Tool box talks and other safety meetings
Be knowledgeable of and have experience on machines and tools used in the steel fabrication
trade, including the use and maintenance; detect faulty operation of equipment
Be responsible for daily work area cleanup, neatness, and orderly stocking of material
Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, bolt, or grind component parts as necessary to satisfy the
technical requirements and create a welded final product.
Complete the tasks of the Method of Construction (MOC) for projects assigned. It is a Welder’s
responsibility to follow the plan, to communicate issues, problems, road blocks, etc. back to the
Welding Foreman.
Examine finished product or work and have it verified by the Welder Foreman or Weld Shop
Supervisor
It is the sole responsibility of the Welder/Level III (W/L3) to perform the tasks assigned by the
Welding Foreman or Weld Shop Supervisor. Your attitude and work performance must exhibit
what the company desires of a trained and skilled craftsman.
Knowledgeable with tools and fabrication principles and be able to apply that to the work process.
Layout, position, align and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges,
combination squares, calipers, and rulers. Examine work pieces for defects and measure work
pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
Lift or move materials, sub-assemblies, and/or finished products with large cranes
Maintain a positive attitude with sub-trades, inspectors and fellow workers
Monitor your work activities and labor hours against project schedules; complete the work within
the time allotted
Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes
such as gas metal arc, and flux-cored arc, and shielded metal arc.
Perform work competently to avoid repetitive mistakes
Read, review, and understand the information provided on all plans, specifications, scope sheets,
and other miscellaneous information given for each specific project to complete the tasks as
required. Focus is to be placed on details and method of construction to be used.
Review and understand performance level needed before starting a project; perform work
assigned in the quickest and easiest way to complete a job without sacrificing quality or safety
Set-up work in jigs for fabrication of parts or assemblies
Stop any work conducted in an unsafe manner. Practice and enforce safety all the time.
Train and practice the latest techniques in the welding field; constantly strive to improve your
quality and level of skill and certification
Treat all employees, customers and contacts with dignity and respect
Weld components in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions
Use the proper tools and equipment needed for a job to ensure a good output
Administrative/Legal/Professional Services
Participate in the completion of the company’s annual inventory
Sales/Estimating
This position has no Sales/Estimating responsibilities
Quality Control/Safety
Be trained in using a Fire Extinguisher
Check your own work and be responsible for it.
Maintain quality levels as established by the Company and/or inspection agencies
Operate equipment safely and apply safety practices to all aspects of your work
Work with Quality Assurance/Safety Team for each project to fix, repair, or replace non-compliant
materials or details of construction per posted Deficiency Reports
Accounting
This position has no Accounting responsibilities
