PRIMARY DETAIL
Support young learners with diverse needs and deliver expert psychological services within a leading special education setting!- Salary Package: From $122,628 (HEW 8) per annum, plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading (pro-rata for part-time appointments).
- Part-time (0.6FTE), fixed-term until 17 December 2027

Are you a passionate and dedicated psychologist who wants to make a genuine difference in the lives of children with special learning needs? The Macquarie University Special Education Centre (MUSEC) School is seeking a skilled School Psychologist to join our close-knit, multidisciplinary team.
MUSEC is an independent school located on the grounds of Macquarie University, catering for children from Kindergarten to Year 6 who have special learning needs. About the Role
Reporting to the MUSEC School Principal, you will provide high-quality psychological services that support the learning, wellbeing, and development of students with diverse and complex needs. Your key responsibilities will include:
Undertaking cognitive, social, and emotional assessments to identify student needs, reporting on results, and informing learning adjustments.
Delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions to support students' psychological development, learning engagement, and overall wellbeing.
Monitoring and collecting data on student progress and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and programs.
Providing immediate support and risk assessment during critical incidents or mental health emergencies.
Partnering with teachers, parents, and external health providers to develop comprehensive student support plans.
Contributing to the design and delivery of preventative wellbeing initiatives across the school community.
Providing psychoeducation to staff regarding support strategies for students with mental health concerns.
Referring students and their families to external agencies and professionals to support health and wellbeing outcomes.

About You
You are an empathetic, collaborative, and highly skilled psychologist with a genuine commitment to supporting children with disabilities and diverse learning needs. You thrive in a school environment, bring strong clinical knowledge, and are motivated by meaningful outcomes for students and their families.
Selection Criteria:
Bachelor or postgraduate qualification in Psychology,
Current registration with the Psychology Board of Australia,
Experience working with students with disabilities in a school environment or within child psychology is desirable,
High-level knowledge and skills in psychological assessment, counselling, and evidence-based interventions,
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teachers, families, allied health professionals, and external agencies to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes for children, including students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs, and
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders,
*** Note: Employment is conditional upon the successful completion of background checks, including a NSW Working with Children Check, National Police Check, and verification of current registration with the Psychology Board of Australia via AHPRA. A demonstrated commitment to child protection practices is also required.
