Job Description

Supports Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers to manage an assigned portfolio of customer relationships. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Overseeing accurate and consistent financial statements spreads, quarterly trend analyses, quarterly monitoring reports and covenant tests in accordance with bank spreading standards and credit policies. Analyzing financial data and preparing comprehensive written analyses, analyzing portfolio credit quality and assisting with industry sector reviews, assisting Portfolio Managers in preparing and presenting credit requests for Credit Approval.

Key Responsibilities

Underwriting & Credit Analysis

  • Analyze borrower financials, property cash flows, collateral valuation, sponsor strength, covenant sensitivities, and market conditions

  • Prepare clear, comprehensive written credit analyses and supporting documentation

  • Support Portfolio Managers in preparing, underwriting, and presenting credit requests for approval

  • Execute straightforward credit requests for existing clients with limited supervision

Transaction & Deal Support

  • Support new originations and facility expansions from initial screening through closing,

  • Participate in the preparation and negotiation of term sheets, as applicable

Portfolio Management & Credit Monitoring

  • Support Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers in managing an assigned portfolio of Commercial Real Estate structured finance facilities (warehouse lines and repurchase facilities)

  • Perform accurate and consistent spreading of borrower financial statements in accordance with bank standards and credit policies

  • Prepare quarterly trend analyses, monitoring reports, and covenant compliance testing

  • Maintain compliance monitoring and financial reporting databases, including tracking credit agreement requirements, borrower financial receipt, and key credit metrics

  • Participate in quarterly portfolio reviews, including analysis of operating statements, rent rolls, and risk assessments

  • Proactively identify and communicate emerging risks, mitigants, and other issues at the transaction and portfolio level

  • Assist with annual company‑wide credit reviews for clients with multiple property holdings, including analysis beyond bank‑financed properties

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate effectively with Credit Approvers and internal risk partners

  • Participate in client bank meetings, as needed, to support underwriting, portfolio management, and risk discussions

  • Serve as a reliable first line of credit analysis, escalating issues appropriately

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 3+ years of experience in commercial real estate credit underwriting, portfolio management, or structured finance

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience underwriting and/or managing commercial real estate structured finance facilities

  • Strong commercial real estate credit underwriting and financial analysis skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency with borrowing base mechanics

  • Experience authoring credit memoranda and supporting credit approval processes

  • Effective analytical and technical report writing skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present risks and recommendations

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, and Credit Approvers

  • Familiarity with banking policies and commercial real estate underwriting processes

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience with nCino and CoStar preferred

  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to summarize complex structures, collateral, and risks in a clear and concise manner

Location expectations

 This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $117,725.00 - $138,500.00
