Job Description

Rockwell Automation is looking for a Senior Hardware Development Engineer with digital electronics design experience to join our ControlLogix Engineering team. You will develop advanced automation control systems and contribute across the hardware product lifecycle, including circuit design, integration, system-level analysis, debugging, validation, and regulatory compliance. You will work hands-on with prototypes and lab equipment to troubleshoot issues and verify design changes. Rockwell Automation offers a hybrid work model with an office located in Katowice.

As a Senior Hardware Development Engineer, you will independently deliver complex hardware design tasks and contribute technical expertise within the team. You will apply and expand your knowledge of hardware technologies across the product development lifecycle. With success in this role, you will increase your technical scope and responsibility.

You will report to the Hardware Manager and work within a Scrum team, collaborating closely with the Engineering Sponsor.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design digital hardware within an agile team, including schematics, component selection, and support of verification activities.
  • Work with hardware prototypes: program devices, measure signals, debug issues, and validate design changes.
  • Analyze hardware problems at board and system level during development and sustaining.
  • Prepare and maintain hardware design documentation and test results.
  • Execute technical work within a defined area such as processor subsystems or networking subsystems.
  • Collaborate with firmware, test, and manufacturing engineers to support product integration.
  • Share technical knowledge with team members during regular engineering work.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Engineer's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a similar technical discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in electronics hardware design at printed circuit board level.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering electronic hardware systems through the full lifecycle, including architecture definition, detailed design, validation, release to manufacturing, and long‑term sustaining.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience designing complex digital systems that integrate microcontrollers, high‑speed DDR memory interfaces, Ethernet PHY/MAC architectures, and custom logic implemented in ASICs or FPGAs.
  • Hands‑on proficiency with schematic capture and multilayer PCB design, including signal‑integrity and power‑integrity analysis using tools such as Mentor Graphics, HyperLynx, or equivalent professional EDA environments.
  • Capability to independently review and troubleshoot intricate hardware designs, interpret test data, and make well‑founded technical decisions that balance performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • English language skills at B2 level or higher.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Experience of developing hardware systems compliant with functional safety standards (IEC 61508, SIL2/SIL3).
  • Direct involvement in preparing products for certification processes such as UL, CE, or IEC 61010, including documentation and test support.
  • Working knowledge of security‑related standards like IEC 62443 and how they influence hardware design choices.
  • Use of PLM tools such as SAP, JIRA, or comparable systems in an engineering environment.
  • Additional experience in one of the following areas:
    • Processors: CPU subsystems, memory interfaces, power delivery, high‑speed digital interfaces.
    • Networking: Ethernet subsystems, PHYs, switching concepts, high‑speed links, network interface design.

What We Offer:

Our benefits package includes …

  • Volunteer Paid Time off available after 6 months of employment for eligible employees.
  • Company volunteer and donation matching program – Your volunteer hours or personal cash donations to an eligible charity can be matched with a charitable donation.
  • On-demand digital course library for professional development.
