Job description

We’re looking for a FIFO Laboratory Assistant to join our relief pool based in Perth. In this role, you’ll support different onsite laboratories as needed, helping keep day-to-day testing running smoothly. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys practical work, variety, and being part of a team.

You’ll be comfortable working in a laboratory environment, following clear procedures, and maintaining accuracy while handling samples.

Responsibilites include however, are not limited to:

  • Loading, unloading, sorting and weighing samples onto drying racks
  • Making sure samples stay in the correct numerical order at all times
  • Analysing mineral samples using laboratory equipment such as ICP, XRF and AAS
  • Checking incoming samples against submission forms and recording any missing or extra samples
  • Milling samples and transferring sub-samples into packets, following quality and contamination control procedures
  • Assisting with screening, crushing and other laboratory tasks as required

We’re looking for someone who is reliable, detail-focused and a good team player, with:

  • Previous experience working in a minerals or analytical laboratory
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage repetitive tasks accurately
  • Clear communication skills and the confidence to ask questions when needed
  • A positive, flexible attitude and willingness to work across different sites
  • The ability to work safely and follow laboratory procedures at all times
