Position Overview
 

The Boeing Company is seeking a Associate Systems Engineer – MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering) to join the team and support the deployment of model-based engineering practices across the systems engineering lifecycle. This role will focus on applying MBSE, SysML, and UAF methodologies to improve requirements development, architecture definition, traceability, and systems integration across production engineering activities.

In this position, you will work closely with systems engineers, production engineering teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to transform document-based engineering approaches into scalable, model-based solutions. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of system models, support requirements management, and help integrate engineering models with modern digital tools and enterprise processes.

Position Responsibilities:

• Deploy Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology across assigned programs and teams.

• Provide MBSE, SysML, and UAF expertise and technical support to the broader systems engineering organization.

• Integrate models with modern requirements management, architecture, and systems engineering software tools.

• Perform functional and logical decomposition of systems and develop requirements with three-way traceability between requirements, functions, and logical elements.

• Support the transition from document-based to model-based architectures, including refactoring of existing models.

• Apply multiple architecture frameworks, tools, and methodologies to support systems engineering needs.

• Identify, recommend, and implement model-based architecture and engineering methods, processes, and standards.

• Develop and extend system models using requirements documentation, interface definitions, and systems engineering design artifacts.

• Perform requirements management using MSOSA/Cameo Enterprise Architecture and/or 3DExperience software.

• Link and trace system models to requirements, architecture, design, manufacturing, and ERP processes.

• Develop and manage product line system requirements, including decomposition of aircraft-level requirements and customer use cases to equipment, system, and software-level requirements.

• Evaluate customer and operational needs to define and coordinate system performance, functional, and non-functional requirements.

• Support the planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of tools, risks, issues, and opportunity management processes.

• Collaborate with the local MBSE team to execute daily work assignments and coordinate task execution.

• Learn and apply Boeing MBSE processes and tools, and share knowledge to mentor teammates as needed.

• Provide regular status updates and progress reports to the MBSE Manager.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• 4+ years of demonstrated experience in MBSE, SysML, and UAF methodologies.

• 6 to 8 years of Systems Engineering experience with exposure to:

  • Production Engineering

  • MBSE / SysML / UAF

  • System design

  • Engineering tools and processes
     

• Experience and familiarity with Cameo Enterprise Architecture and/or 3DExperience software is mandatory.

• Experience in systems architecture and MBSE within a Production Engineering environment is preferred.

• Exposure to PLM, Manufacturing, and ERP tools and processes is highly preferred.

• Knowledge and understanding of end-to-end product development workflows in a system or system-of-systems environment.

• Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: MQL, Java, Python scripting:

• Knowledge of DO-178, DO-254, and DO-160 standards.

• Experience applying SAE ARP 4754 for systems engineering aspects.

• Familiarity with Agile / SAFe processes is mandatory.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers, management, and non-engineering support staff.

• Ability to work effectively in a virtual team environment.

Typical Education & Experience:

• Education and experience typically acquired through advanced education, such as a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field, along with 5 to 8+ years of relevant Systems Engineering experience, including 4+ years of hands-on MBSE/SysML/UAF experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered, such as a Master’s degree with fewer years of experience or a strong technical background with demonstrated expertise in model-based systems engineering, requirements management, systems architecture, and digital engineering tools.
