Job description

JOB TITLE: Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Part-Time Hours: M-F 8:00 am-12:00 pm Full-Time Hours: M-F 8:00 am-12:00 pm at WES Care. Outpatient M-F 1:00 pm-4:30 pm GENERAL OVERVIEW OF KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is a professional who demonstrates a commitment in the assessment and management of mental health patients. They make independent and collaborative judgments in regards to the assessment, diagnosis and management of treatment for patients with psychiatric disorders, medical-mental conditions and substance abuse issues. He or she is expected to apply nursing and behavioral health policies when rendering care and providing health teaching to patients and families. ESSENTIAL & CORE FUNCTIONS: Evaluates the needs of patients. Develops a treatment plan. Provides day to day patient management. Provides information to psychiatrists on the condition of the patient. Provides medication to patients. Educates patients about preventative care and the prescribed treatments. May conduct physicals, order tests and serve as a patient’s primary healthcare provider. Interacts with multidisciplinary team in a collegial manner. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. PREREQUISITES & QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION: A graduate degree from an accredited college or university in psychiatric nursing required. Previous mental health experience required. Valid FBI clearance, PA criminal history check and child abuse history clearance required within 30 days of employment and every 2 years thereafter. Participation in and completion of all CBH mandatory in-services (must be completed with three (3) months of hire and then annually from the date of the initial training). Valid PA nursing licenses in good standing required. Have worked in a Long-Term Nursing facility and/or In-Patient Psychiatric facility. COMPETENCIES & PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS 1. Strong clinical skills. 2. Ability to design, develop and modify programming. 3. Strong communication and team work skills. 4. Highly engaging and ability to work on interdisciplinary team. 5. Knowledge and experience with co-occurring disorders. ORGANIZATIONAL ACCOUNTABILITY & RELATIONSHIPS: 1. The individual is to be supervised by the Medical Director or designee.
